John Fiegel Turns Over DI Reins to New CEO Chuck Cadle
Glassboro New Jersery -- Destination ImagiNation announced the selection of Charles ”Chuck” R. Cadle as its new Chief Executive Officer effective May 18, 2009. He replaces Transition Management Consulting's John Fiegel, who served as Interim CEO since October 2008.
Brownie Mitchell, Chair of the Board of Trustees for Destination ImagiNation prasied Fiegel for his excellent and well timed presence at DI. we really couldn't have done it without John.
We are better positioned to meet the future and serve our mission. John heads to his next assignment at the National Ornamental & Miscellaneous Metals Association.
Ms. Mitchell said Mr. Cadle’s background, education, accomplishments and passion for improving the training of students made him an ideal candidate for the position for which he had the unanimous endorsement of the board. Mr. Cadle will be formally introduced to the DI Community at the Opening Ceremony of Global Finals on May 20, 2009.
“Destination ImagiNation is a truly remarkable organization, and I’m honored to accept the position of CEO,” Chuck, as Mr. Cadle prefers to be called, said. Chuck is currently house hunting near headquarters, and he looks forward to meeting with the professional staff the next time he is in the area.
One of the major reasons Chuck was chosen as Destination ImagiNation’s CEO is his commitment to learning. He began his career instructing children at summer camps, and he has since continued his education and earned certifications in educational leadership. Chuck professes a lifelong commitment to global tolerance and teaching critical and creative thinking skills through training and personal development opportunities. His desire to help others, especially children and young adults, culminated in his position as Chief Information Officer at Gordon College, a liberal arts college in Wenham, MA. During his tenure there, Chuck’s fundraising efforts established a new Center for Educational Technologies and developed a robust and state-of-the art broadband infrastructure.
During the past 25+ years, Chuck has excelled in a number of senior leadership roles. Most recently he functioned as CEO, Executive Director, and Acting CFO and Treasurer of an international nonprofit association and its equine academy. The first-of-its-kind strategic partnership he developed and championed with the National Park Service furthered education about national trails and opened an academy program to more than 400,000 participants involved in the Park Service’s Junior Ranger program.
As a forward-thinking, collaborative, and transformational leader, Chuck has a history of translating his vision for innovation into winning results. He has maintained an impressive career as an executive and change agent by applying his expertise to trigger revenue increases, market share growth, cost savings, process improvements, and advanced technology programs. His combination of business insight and technological knowledge has enabled him to initiate and improve programs, products, services, and organizational systems.
Chuck’s previous positions include Global Development Partner with Callahan Associates International, Founder and CEO of UtiliCom Networks, Director of Global Programs for Conway Data, Executive Director for the World Development Federation, President and CEO of Alcatel/Solid State Systems, Vice President and Controller of Software Concepts, and CFO/Treasurer of International Marketing Services. Much of this experience has involved international travel and establishment of global partnerships in Europe, Central and South America, Asia, Russia, and throughout North America.
In addition to a Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in Finance and Accounting, Chuck has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and is a CPA and Licensed Educational Leader in Georgia and Massachusetts. His professional affiliations have included memberships in the American Association of School Administrators and Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials. He had former roles as a COO of the Community Emergency Preparedness Agency, as a Board Member for the Medical College of Georgia Healing Arts Council, and as a Board Member of the SchoolTalk TV Program.
Chuck also served in the US Army Reserve, following in a family tradition of military service. In the Army Reserve, he trained as a medic and reached the rank of E-4 before obtaining an honorable discharge. Chuck lives with his wife (and high school sweetheart) Elaine, with whom he has three adult children, Alicia, Jeff, and Jason.
