Obesity Society Selects TMC for Executive Search, Interim Mgt.

The Obesity Society, representing more than 2,400 basic and clinical scientists and health care provider members in obesity treatment and prevention has begun preparations for a search for its next executive vice president. The position is expected to open in mid-April. To be considered, interested candidates must apply online at www.TransitionCEO.com after the position has been posted. Presently, it is too early for candidate contact.

“At a time when more than 64% of US adults are either overweight or obese, the work of The Obesity Society and obesity researchers and practitioners has never been more important. Ann is an outstanding association executive and it is a testament to her skills and abilities that The Obesity Society would ask her to return to the Society as an interim EVP, and have faith in TMC’s other services to support their leadership transition,” said TMC President Robert T. “Bob” Van Hook.

Jackie Eder-Van Hook is a highly skilled association executive professional who uses her organization development, strategic thinking, and superior management skills to support organizations in transition. Recently, Jackie led the executive search efforts for the American Medical Student Association and AMSA Foundation, the Marine Technology Society, the Council for Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, MD Bio, MD Bio Foundation, and the Washington Psychiatric Society, which ultimately led to moving the Society to an association management company. Previously, TMC did the search for the Society of Vascular Technology (now Society of Vascular Ultrasound) and Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards, for example.

Bruce C. Gilman, PE, a former corporate CEO, and President, Marine Technology Society had this to say about TMC’s search efforts. “I cannot fully tell you how pleased we are with the services TMC provided to the Marine Technology Society during a very trying and critical period. Jackie was a pleasure to work with. I have been through many executive search processes in my career and have never experienced such an organized, disciplined and methodical approach to candidate recruitment and selection. The results speak for themselves.”

During her 20+ years as an association and foundation executive, Ann has held CEO, senior management, and deputy executive director positions in fields as diverse as architecture, association management, healthcare, and future-focused research. Ann has a broad experience in consultancy, and worked with TMC almost since its inception. She served as Interim CEO for a number of TMC clients, including the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Entomological Society of America, Deafness Research Foundation, NAASO: The Obesity Society, and the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association.

Ann is a graduate of Oberlin College. In 1992, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) awarded Ann the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE).
