Maryland Nonprofits Selects TMC's Ann Kenworthy as Interim Executive Director

Maryland Nonprofits Selects Transition Management Consulting to Provide Interim Executive Services; Ann Kenworthy, CAE to Serve as Interim Executive Director

Washington, DC – The Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations (“Maryland Nonprofits”) has selected Transition Management Consulting’s (TMC) Ann Kenworthy, CAE to provide Interim Executive Management services. Ann will serve as the association’s interim executive director. Maryland Nonprofits is the largest and, one of the most effective state nonprofit associations in the country.

“Maryland Nonprofits is responsible for some of the early work in interim management. In the 1990s, the Annie E. Casey Foundation funded Maryland Nonprofits to identify ways to support their grantees and bridge the gap in executive leadership. It is an honor to provide interim services to them and to support them in one of the ways they have supported the nonprofit community in Maryland,” said TMC President and Co-Founder Bob Van Hook.

During her 20+ year tenure as an association and foundation executive, Ann has held CEO, senior management, and deputy executive director positions in fields as diverse as architecture, association management, healthcare, and future-focused research. Ann has a broad experience in consultancy and has worked with TMC almost since its inception. She served as Interim CEO for a number of TMC clients, including the Entomological Society of America, Deafness Research Foundation, NAASO: The Obesity Society, and the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association.

Ms. Kenworthy replaces longtime Executive Director, Peter V. Berns, who has left to assume the position of Executive Director of The Arc of the United States. Peter served as Maryland Nonprofits’ first executive director, and has held the position for 16 years.

Ann is a graduate of Oberlin College. In 1992, she was awarded a Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation by the American Society of Association Executives.

TMC co-founder Jackie Eder-Van Hook has been a long-time volunteer peer reviewer for Maryland Nonprofits’ Standards for Excellence® program that provides education and best practices to nonprofits.
