Destination ImagiNation Selects Transition Management Consulting to Provide Interim Executive Management Services; John L. Fiegel, CAE to Serve as Interim CEO

Washington, DC – The Board of Trustees of Destination ImagiNation Inc., headquartered in Glassboro, NJ has selected Transition Management Consulting, Inc. to provide Interim Executive Management services. John L. Fiegel will serve as the organization’s interim CEO to manage the worldwide organization during the search for a permanent executive.

Fiegel, a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with more than 20 years of experience as CEO with numerous association and nonprofits and former career US Air Force officer, takes the reins of DI immediately. He will continue as its interim CEO until a replacement is found, and will manage the transition to the new staff leader.

“The smooth operation and sustained strength of this worldwide organization are so important that we absolutely need a top executive at the helm at all times,” said Brownie Mitchell, Chair of the DI Board of Trustees. “Time and again, John has proven his abilities to come into an organization and keep it functioning 100 percent until a permanent leader is found to take over. We were fortunate to have found him.”

Since 1988, Fiegel served as executive director in over fifteen professional societies and trade associations, often simultaneously, within association management companies. Among them were the Society of Intelligence Professionals, Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems, International; the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry; the International District Energy Association; and the World Airline Entertainment Association.

Fiegel completed his Air Force career as a Lieutenant Colonel having served most of it in the Pentagon Air Staff, in the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense with an emphasis in international affairs, planning, programming, and budgeting.

John holds a BA in Management from Texas A&M University and an MS in International Affairs from Troy State University’s program in Germany. He resides in Cabin John, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC, is married, and has two teenage children in high school.
