Before joining Transition Management Consulting, Inc. Fred following a stellar career leading the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for more than 110,000 audiologists, speech, language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists.

An ASHA Fellow and a certified speech-language pathologist, Spahr began his career in hearing health after earning a master’s degree in speech and hearing from Boston University and a doctoral degree in speech communications from the University of Southern California. He served for two years as an assistant professor at The Pennsylvania State University and, in 1970, joined the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as associate secretary for professional affairs.
Fred earned his certified association executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives in 1979.
An active member of the association community, Spahr has served as chairman of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives from 1993-1994 and on the board of directors of the American Society of Association Executives. He is also a recipient of ASAE Key Award for association management. Spahr currently volunteers with the Literacy Council of Montgomery County.
Fred earned a doctorate of philosophy (PhD)from the University of Southern California, a Masters of Education (MEd) from Boston University, and a Bachelors of Arts from Indiana University-Bloomington.
